They should give them all knives.
Ray Lewis anyone?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Lewis

Conviction for obstruction of justiceFollowing a Super Bowl XXXIV party in Atlanta on January 31, 2000, a fight broke out between Lewis and another group of people, resulting in the stabbing deaths of Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar. Lewis and two companions, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting, were questioned by Atlanta police, and eleven days later the three men were indicted on murder and aggravated assault charges. The white suit Lewis was wearing the night of the killings has never been found. Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard alleged that the bloodstained suit was dumped in a garbage bin outside a fast food restaurant.[25]

Lewis claimed that the prosecution knew he was not involved in the murder but chose to go ahead with the case anyway, saying "You don't care if I'm guilty or not. You gonna make sure I go to jail for life."[26] Lewis' attorneys, Don Samuel and Ed Garland, of the Atlanta law firm Garland, Samuel & Loeb, negotiated a plea agreement with Howard, the Fulton County District Attorney, where the murder charges against Lewis were dismissed in exchange for his testimony against Oakley and Sweeting, and his guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice.[12] Lewis admitted that he gave a misleading statement to police on the morning after the killings. Superior Court Judge Alice D. Bonner sentenced Lewis to 12 months' probation, the maximum sentence for a first-time offender;[27] and he was fined US$250,000 by the NFL, which was believed to be the highest fine levied against an NFL player for an infraction not involving substance abuse.[28] Under the terms of the sentence, Lewis could not use drugs or alcohol during the duration of the probation.

Oakley and Sweeting were acquitted of the charges in June 2000.[29] No other suspects have ever been arrested for the crime.

The following year, Lewis was named Super Bowl XXXV MVP. However, the signature phrase "I'm going to Disney World!" was given instead by quarterback Trent Dilfer.

On April 29, 2004, Lewis reached a settlement with four-year-old India Lollar, born months after the death of her father Richard, preempting a scheduled civil proceeding. Lewis also
reached an undisclosed settlement with Baker's family.[29]

To defend oneself, one must also be ready to die. There is little such readiness in a society raised in the cult of material well-being. Nothing is left, then, but concessions, attempts to gain time, and betrayal.

Back in the 60s, when I started watching football, they kicked off from the 40, and it wasn't always a touchback. I remember Travis Williams running two kickoffs back for touchdowns in the same game (Packers vs. Browns in 1967, I believe). They also had the goal posts on the goal line instead of at the back of the end zone. Life was easier for kickers in those days. But kickers now are better.

I think an 18 game season will be worse for the long term health of the players rather than having the kickoff at the 35 yard line.

This reminds me; how can the Commissioner, owners, and players improve the NFL?

One thing I'd do is realign the divisions even more to make them more geographically coherent. They're better than what they were before the last realignment, but I'd put the Jaguars and Dolphins in the same division, giving them an interstate rivalry. I'd put some AFC teams in the NFC and vice versa to make it even more so. It may save money on travel expenses, too.

I definitely see where you are coming from with this, but the current divisions all have popular rivalries that no one wants to let go of.

True. Redskins-Cowboys, Jets-Dolphins, to give two examples.

LMAO!! What kind of rivalry is that? Who can go the longest without winning a Superbowl? Maybe Jets-Patriots or Dolphins-Patriots but even those aren't real rivalries until either the Jets or Dolphins win a superbowl.

Wait,  are you saying the jets or dolphins have never won a suprbowl? lol,   I think the notion that bad teams can't have rivalries is dumb anyways.

The Jets and Dolphins have had a big rivalry for years, which is why they didn't separate them from the AFC East when they realigned the divisions in 2002, regardless of the fact that the Jets haven't won a Super Bowl since Super Bowl III and the Dolphins haven't won one since Super Bowl VIII. This is like saying the Raiders and Chargers or the Raiders and Chiefs don't have a popular rivalry. Or, even more so, the Browns and Bengals, neither of which have ever won a Super Bowl.

Jets-Patriots is probably one of the best rivalries going at the moment.
