As it happens, there really is a cute puppy near me, as in the first post.  My puppy is wrestling with his bed.

"Courage, dear brothers! Probably half of us are in our old age. Old age, they say, is the seat of wisdom. The old ones have the wisdom that they have earned from walking through life. Like old Simeon and Anna at the temple whose wisdom allowed them to recognize Jesus. Let us give with wisdom to the youth: like good wine that improves with age, let us give the youth the wisdom of our lives."

"Let us never give in to pessimism, to that bitterness that the devil offers us every day. Do not give in to pessimism and discouragement. We have the firm certainty that the Holy Spirit gives the Church with His mighty breath, the courage to persevere and also to seek new methods of evangelization, to bring the Gospel to the ends of the earth."

"The practice of the Church has always been the same, as is shown by the unanimous teaching of the Fathers, who were wont to hold as outside Catholic communion, and alien to the Church, whoever would recede in the least degree from any point of doctrine proposed by her authoritative magisterium" (Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, no.  9, June 29, 1896).

“Wherefore, brethren, labour the more, that by good works you may make sure your calling and election. For doing these things, you shall not sin at any time” (2 Peter 1:10).

A wine bottle now filled with cold water
A St. Josemaria Escriva holy card
A remote for the TV I never watch
A copy of the Summa Theologica on cd ROM
Letters from the library telling me I've got fines to pay  LOL

I'm sitting at my desk surrounded by piles of books I borrowed from various people to reference in a university assignment a few weeks ago. There's also a copy of American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, a cigarette lighter, a small bottle of medication, an almost-empty bottle of whiskey, a whiskey flask, two pewter shot glasses, a smaller whiskey flask, and an empty beer bottle.

It sounds much worse than it actually is....
