His point is sound here. Just because the Church committed a wrong doesn't mean it's a false religion. Obviously he doesn't know enough about the Crusades since he is wrong about Saint Bernard. But he could easily make the same point about the third crusade and be right (when we sacked Constantinople thus making the Islam conquest easier and further damaged relations with the east. Sorry third crusade was an abomination)

Luckily this thread was interesting, because I had to read the whole thing to realise that no one caught your error in this statement. The Third Crusade was from 1189-1192. Constantinople was sacked during the Fourth Crusade in 1204.

I guess none is forthcoming.
It seems Fr Baron is wrong on this point as well as at least one other.

That's a shame that no answer will likely be coming from him.  It's similar to  the "conspiracy of silence" that St. Pius X mentioned in Pascendi.  When you phrase the language specifically enough that a "yes" or "no" is unavoidable, the best strategy seems to be take the fifth amendment.  Martin Luther at least had the courtesy to stand up for his errors.

I can't stop the conspiracy theorists from putting the most sinister possible spin on everything. But it's also possible that he's a busy man and just doesn't answer personal mail/email from strangers. Just sayin'.

I've defended Fr. Barron here before, but I have to admit refusing to answer Pope St. Pius X's emails does look pretty bad.

No, I am only referring to those on this forum who take Father Barron's failure to answer a personal query from a stranger as tacit admission of some sort of guilt. That has nothing to do with Pope St. Pius X, who I'm pretty sure died before Father Barron was born. I'm just saying there are other plausible explanations for Father Barron's silence.
