A wee bit of peach brandy on the gums.........

...and the rest for the mother. Yes, I am catching on.

 LOL

Oh, I'm so sorry! Double teething sounds awful. I don't know what it's like for a 2 year old yet.

When my daughter was teething we tried the whiskey thing.  I tried it on my own gums...it just makes them kind of tingly, which is different than numb.  But we had to stop because she seemed to like it too much  Grin

Remember, O Christian soul, that thou hast this day, and every day of thy life: God to glorify- Jesus to imitate- The Angels and Saints to invoke- A soul to save- A body to mortify- Sins to expiate- Virtues to acquire- Hell to avoid- Heaven to gain- Eternity to prepare for- Time to profit by- Neighbors to edify- The world to despise- Devils to combat- Passions to subdue- Death perhaps to suffer- Judgment to undergo.

For some of my kids it wasn't that bad. At 2 they get their molars. My two year old wasn't that difficult with her first teeth, she's making up for it now. Grin I've tried whiskey on my gums too. It was as you described.

Right now I think I will save the whiskey for me and try to hold on till it's over. It can't last forever, even though it seems like it sometimes. Luckily I have a sympathetic husband who lets me take breaks on his days off.

My parents used paregoric when I was a kid.  This thread just made me look that up for the first time.  Wow!  No wonder i liked it.  I remember them using whiskey when they were out of paregoric.

It might be better to self-medicate but i would definitely not use Everclear.  I did a shot of that once on a dare in my college days and that burns like the dickens - that stuff is 190 proof.  If you change your mind go with some sweet standard proof whiskey like Seagrams VO or Jim Beam (both 80 proof).

Hang in there, mom.

what about those teething toys that you put in the freezer?   those worked well for us.

"Courage, dear brothers! Probably half of us are in our old age. Old age, they say, is the seat of wisdom. The old ones have the wisdom that they have earned from walking through life. Like old Simeon and Anna at the temple whose wisdom allowed them to recognize Jesus. Let us give with wisdom to the youth: like good wine that improves with age, let us give the youth the wisdom of our lives."

"Let us never give in to pessimism, to that bitterness that the devil offers us every day. Do not give in to pessimism and discouragement. We have the firm certainty that the Holy Spirit gives the Church with His mighty breath, the courage to persevere and also to seek new methods of evangelization, to bring the Gospel to the ends of the earth."

The teething rings I've seen lately say do not freeze on them...?... There must be something new in there that wasn't there when we were growing up Huh?   I sometimes do a cold wet washcloth though, it's similar. or frozen fruit  or vegetables. good idea revixit.

My mom said to wet part of a wash cloth and freeze it. I forgot about this, it worked for baby #1. Bonus is that you know it has no chemicals and they can't bite off a piece and choke.

Thanks for reminding me of that.
