We see every tiny detail and curve of the upper leg, butt, panty line, creases, front, etc.
You can't see any of those things in the pictures I posted. They came entirely out of your imagination.

"Tenthly, one should pour tea into the cup first. This is one of the most controversial points of all; indeed in every family in Britain there are probably two schools of thought on the subject. The milk-first school can bring forward some fairly strong arguments, but I maintain that my own argument is unanswerable. This is that, by putting the tea in first and stirring as one pours, one can exactly regulate the amount of milk, whereas one is liable to put in too much milk if one does it the other way round." Protrident, you have a way overactive imagination.
Control yourself.

"THE LORD is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 26:1)
"And we, too, being called by His will in Christ Jesus, are not justified by ourselves, nor by our own wisdom, or understanding, or godliness, or works which we have wrought in holiness of heart; but by that faith through which, from the beginning, Almighty God has justified all men; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." — Clement, bishop of Rome
"I love truth," says he, "and not sects. I am sometimes a peripatetic, a stoic, or an academician, and often none of them; but—always a Christian. To philosophise is to love wisdom; and the true wisdom is Jesus Christ. Let us read the historians, the poets, and the philosophers; but let us have in our hearts the gospel of Jesus Christ, in which alone is perfect wisdom and perfect happiness." — Petrarch

he's just sayin'. Depending on the article of clothing it is common nowadays for womens' clothing to leave little to the imagination. That's just a fact, and I'm glad to see that so many people here, unlike out in the world, take the concept of modesty seriously. Today at Target this pregnant lady with her loose short shorts kept walking in front of me, everything hanging out. I was like "Hey, what's down this aisle? Dog treats! AWESOME!!!" (I don't have a dog). Then I'd walk back out onto the main row a minute later and she'd come walkin' out in front of me again..."Hey, what's down thiiiiis aisle?!?! Hannukah decorations on clearance! AWESOOOOME!!!!!!!" It was like sexual assault...on me. Just thought I'd share...

Perhaps I may be able to better explain Protrident's (my husband's) point without it sounding like a romance novel. He is not always the greatest with words (too much time in the military?)
We started down the journey to traditional Catholicism a few years ago and we both noticed how we had become completely desensitized to a lot of things in this world that were not necessarily appropriate. For example, once we turned off the TV for a few months, we would turn on shows that we used to watch regularly and innocently only to be appalled with how filthy they were. I think the same happened to Protrident with his view of modest clothing. Once he stepped away from the mini skirts and tank tops on a regular basis, once he started to see them again he became very aware of how much the subconscious mind sees. As he mentioned, it is not the flesh that is necessarily lustful, it is showing too much of the curves/lines of the body. Men are naturally visual people and certain types of clothing do not leave much to the imagination at all. Protrident was trying to give an example of how immodest a woman can be even when she sees herself as being modest and most of us (men and women) do not realize this immodesty in our conscious brains because we are so desensitized to it. This is why we must look to our spiritual directors, the saints, and others with holier lives to help give us guidance in these subjects.

So he trained himself to have impure thoughts at the sight of modestly dressed women?
Does anyone need me to explain further why the trad obsession with modesty is so incredibly harmful?

Perhaps this would indicate that it's not good to completely divorce yourself from culture. People aren't going to dress as if they were on the Walton's. If you think looking at those pictures is sinful you've gone to far and need to desensitize yourself.

Personally, I think the clothing in many of these pictures is considered immodest, although there is certainly much worse out there. ... and no, he has not trained himself to think any differently, just to see things consciously for what they are. Yes we are to live in this world but not be a part of this world. The closer you move to God, the more you begin to see the world as satan's playground - leading to a constant spiritual warfare. But you are right, there is such a thing as too extreme, except when trying to purify your soul, and in all areas we should strive to find the proper balance - the true modest approach.
