What the hell of a kind of picture is that?  yikes.

It's from some Glenn Beck rally.

I have to admit I don't personally know any Tea Partiers, but aren't they generally centered around people like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin? It's true that the Tea Party represents conservative working class values, but it seems like that usually just means the white working class. For example, I don't think many black members of the working class really have the same attitudes toward the social safety net or figures who are popular with the Tea Party like Palin and Reagan. Anyway, I think it is safe to say any movement that feels the need to take these sorts of pictures:

Is probably mostly white and at least somewhat aware of that fact. Only a movement that is mostly white is going to feel the need to point out its few non-white members.

Well, sure, but that's because most Americans are, in fact, white.  The Tea Party is actually fairly representative of the population in that regard.  But that doesn't prove that there is an over-arching "white" culture apart from American culture.  Non-Whites are part of the same culture, as that picture shows.

Really? Because those of African descent have been here longer than any other group besides the Native American and they are still not 'a part' of 'our' society.

 Huh?

What do you mean "our," white man?

I have a black neighbor who manages a supermarket, and he is part of the same society as me.  His culture is my culture.

I mean that race is NOT a social construct. While we try to wish it away minorities have no problem gathering around their race, ethnicity, and heritage. A New York Times poll in 1990 found that 60% of black respondents thought that the federal government introduced drugs into black neighborhoods to kill black people. 29% thought that the government put AIDS into black neighborhoods to kill black people. I am no fan of Bush I assure you but when it was said that Bush let Katrina happen the white community brushed it off as nonsense while the black community did not, with Bush having a support of only 2% of African Americans.
