Men from cold climates are more attractive.

Fact.

(Please don't hurt me.)

True.  Just ask Kayla.

Men from cold climates are more attractive.

Fact.

Does that mean what I think it means?

Probably not. What do you think it means?

I don't assume that "men from cold climates" = "white men," but I suspect that's what Titus Alba thinks?

I could be wrong.

Even if that is what you meant, nothing wrong with that preference.  Others will disagree with that "fact" ... but then again, I'm not sure at all that that's what you meant.

4. Black women write books about this: One is called: "Why black men love white women." (If you don't believe me, look it up). And yes, black females do resent their eclipse and try to "compete" by using hair-straightener and skin lightener.

Are you kidding me? If one black woman writes a book, at what point does that book begin to speak for all black women? Hitler wrote a book, does that book speak for all people of European descent? And who uses skin lightener? I know many black women (myself included) and none of them are ashamed of their skin color or try to change it. And, just for the record, the only person I've ever been in a relationship was white and just as pale as could be.

I guess my main point is that I am offended by your views, not just as a black woman, but as a human being. To each his own but you did just single out 2 fairly large groups of people (pale men and dark women) as inherently unattractive and unappealing. Basically, I take offense that, although you have no idea what you're talking about, you seem to enjoy gallivanting about and drawing racial lines in the proverbial sand. Sorry to inform you, but that's not how the world works. One does not speak for all any more than all speaks for one. Stop generalizing and go meet some people. The reason no one is attracted to you could be because of your light complexion OR it could be that your logic doesn't even begin to make sense, your tact is non-existent, and, thus far, everything you've said has been slightly whiny. Can you guess which option I'm leaning towards?

Just a thought...

Well, for anyone who has been to the twin cities that's certainly not the case.  Much ethnic diversity here.  In fact, I'm intrigued by it.  We have the largest (or at least we did, stats change) Hmong population in the US here.  I don't know the climate of where the Hmong come from but I don't think of it as being a winter wasteland.  Same with the somalis, of which we also have very many of.  And we have a whole bunch of latins as well.  And of course, there's a lot of black people.  We have some serbians here in South Saint Paul although much less now.  There's Russians, too.  I think it's very interesting, we have some poles but very few compared to Wisconsin, Chicago and Michigan.  Maybe Poles don't get along with the Norse, I'm not sure.  But once you hit MN and then go into the Dakotas, you can count on the white people being a majority of Scandanavian, German and Celt.  Lots of names like Anders(e)on, Peters(e)on, Eriks(e)on, and lots of Bj's.  Like Bjorkland, Bjork, Bjorland, the bj's are vast.  For the non-northerners, the bj is pronounced like "Byeeorkland."

Anyhow.

Surely that makes sense, and my "cold climate folks" = "white folks" interpretation was only suggested as a possibility, not trying to read Iolanthe's mind.

But, other than the fact that many peoples originating from cold climates centuries ago were white (with plenty of exceptions, e.g. Eskimos, but even they are much lighter skinned than Asian folks from say the Philippines) ... what else do them have in common that she finds attractive?

Good winter coats?

Could be.

Surely it is our rugged manliness and intrepid demeanor towards the elements.  Men of the north are true vikings, spending their days drinking dark stout and grooming their beards while roasting a bear with plenty of song surrounded by beautiful women and tales of valor.

Where else would one want to be?

Well, and NYC you're definitely a testament to this phenomena of people who are not "naturally designed" (insofar as their heritage does not demand or have a history of) for a cold weather climate making their home in one, as you are Indian (dots not feathers) if I recall?

This truly fascinates me.

Yeah I'm Indian (dots not feather, lol, love it) but we're not completely from a warm climate... my dad was born in a city (Shimla) which is at a high elevation, where it's often cold and often snows.  NYC can be cold, but it's hot in the summer ... and i'd never compare our winters with yours!  My mom, also born in India, was born in an area that's mostly desert, always hot, and never sees snow.

As to the rugged manliness and intrepid demeanor: that's as good an explanation as any.

Ah, yes, and this idea is also foreign to me.  I think of India and I don't think of snow because of mountains.  Here in the great northern plains, we may have a mountain shared by everyone but I think really the closest we have to mountains is a couple hills and bluffs on the river.

Speaking of winters, this winter has been miserable in that we have had next to no snow.  The temperatures have also been unseasonably warm, except for the odd day here or there where we get below ten F.  Pathetic.  I might have to move to Canada if this keeps up.
