I'm saddened by Vetus's departure from Fisheaters. His posts were usually interesting and he had an excellent grasp of theology. Yes, the comment to JayneK was uncalled-for but I am glad that he manned-up and apologised to her.

He will be missed!

For a time, I wondered why Vetus seemed to pick on women...but then I realized that he LOVES them.

Really loves them.

And that is my enduring memory of Vetus Ordo  Smile

Vetus will be missed. Back in October, when I made the Fisheaters theme song montage video, I dedicated a 15 second spot just for a post from him.

It was creepy that he wrote it and creepy that you thought it worth featuring.  Despising Jews is not a central tenet of Catholicism.
Jaynek, just can it! This is not about you. I won't fall for your bait.
Vetus, you will be missed!

Your name is bait.  I think most people realize that you did not choose the name Gottmittuns because you are a good little kitten who found its mittens and you shall have some pie.  It was engraved on the belt buckles of Nazi soldiers.  No wonder some people think that trads are Nazi sympathizers.
Please don't display ignorance Jaynek.
Read about where Gott mit uns comes from.
I overlooked this post of yours. But I could not remain silent once I read it. You think you can get away with these little devious implications of yours. It won't work.
You are crossing the line.

BTW, here is a little excerpt of the origin of that phrase.

Gott mit uns

Nobiscum Deus ('God with us') was a battle cry of the late Roman Empire and of the Byzantine Empire.[1] In the 17th century, the phrase Gott mit uns was used as a 'field word', a means of recognition akin to a password,[2] by the army of Gustavus Adolphus at the battles of Breitenfeld (1631), Lützen (1632) and Wittstock (1636) in the Thirty Years' War.[3] In 1701, Frederick I of Prussia changed his coat of arms as Prince-Elector of Brandenburg. The electoral scepter had its own shield under the electoral cap. Below, the motto Gott mit uns appeared on the pedestal.

And please look up Matthew 1:23

Personally,  I think you have a fixation with nazism and you can't get over it. Please desist.
This forum has been exceptional and for some of us, we learn a lot about the One True Faith.

You are in my prayers Jaynek. I hope that the acerbity that you publicly display mellows down.

Gott sei mit euch.

(No Jaynek, that means, God be with you).

For the rest of Fisheaters, sorry about this post, this thread is about Vetus Ordo.  But I had to speak/write my mind.
May God Bless Vetus Ordo and Fisheaters forum.

"Nothing is more miserable than those people who never failed to attack their own salvation. When there was need to observe the Law, they trampled it under foot. Now that the Law has ceased to bind, they obstinately strive to observe it. What could be more pitiable that those who provoke God not only by transgressing the Law but also by keeping it? But at any rate the Jews say that they, too, adore God. God forbid that I say that. No Jew adores God! Who say so? The Son of God say so. For he said: "If you were to know my Father, you would also know me. But you neither know me nor do you know my Father". Could I produce a witness more trustworthy than the Son of God?"  St. John Chrysostom Sunday Homily

Vetus is one of the folks that made FE great.  If his ban is permanent then we've lost something irreplaceable and we should count ourselves as quite unfortunate.

I agree. I have only been in the tank two weeks or so but, he was one of my favorite posters. If he was banned what wrong did he do?

He could come back if he'd stop calling people crypto-Jews, marranos, and the like. Same for other posters who've been banned. Just follow the rules; it's simple. Another who was banned actually called someone "hymie" on this forum. I'm not putting up with that stuff. Anyone who's been banned can come back by writing to me and promising to behave. I don't need or want apologies or grovelling, just a simple "I will try to follow the rules and will try to watch my mouth."

And what's up with this beating up on Jayne thing? Cut it out, guys. It all seems so grade-school.

Is this an Americanism? I don't know what it means.

And the pile-on on Jayne is pretty unpleasant to to witness guys.

Do you mean that people shouldn't be referred to as crypto-Jews and marranos if that is not what they are? If they are crypto-Jews and marranos I would think a Catholic has a duty to point it out. How does VoxClamantis know that Jayne isn't a crypto-Jew? She seems to have all the hallmarks of one. Quite a few others on the forum as well.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc.

I don't know why Vetus apologized to JayneK. I wouldn't have.

Was alaric banned, too? I don't see his name on the members list.
