Jayne, I'm not trying to just be a jerk, but it's sort of convenient that you're going to supposedly take the high road now that you've got all your slander out on the forum.

Go back and look at thread histories - this is what she ALWAYS does!

I have a history of apologizing after I've done something wrong.  Is this supposed to be a fault?  I have plenty that make more sense.  I am a hot-tempered and thoroughly flawed person. Having me be sinless is not an option. The only choice is whether I say I'm sorry afterwards or not.

I have a student that is always apologizing for doing things he shouldn't. I finally told him, "I don't want you to be sorry - I want you to stop doing things you shouldn't."

Of course he is special ed - which may explain why he can't always behave.

Just want to reaffirm what I've said earlier: banned people can ask me to unban them. All I want in the case of the last two bans is for the "marrano," "crypto-Jew," and "hymie" stuff to stop. I won't put up with that stuff here.

Some person pretending to be Vox posted a link to it in Cathinfo. That may account for some of the traffic.

This fake Vox was posting a lot of garbage there and some of them realized that it was an imposter.  They then started accusing Vetus of being the phoney.  It was ridiculous.  How could anyone think he would be dishonest or vindictive or petty?  Anyhow he found out and posted a denial which they seem to accept.

I wish he would just email me and promise not to call people "crypto-Jews" or "marranos" and such. I mean, I liked most of his posts, too. Same with Alaric. But I just can't and won't have that sort of thing going on here. It's all so unnecessary. And just sad. To have two posters that so many people liked -- myself included -- to have to be banned over something that's so easy to fix.

In retrospect, I should have made the bans temporary (well, all bans are temporary in the sense that they can be reversed any time) -- but I mean I should have stated that they were temporary and given the reasons why, especially since (hindsight!) it was pointed out to me that the post that triggered the bans was from August. I wish I had told them "OK, a week off for you because of..." But I read that "crypto-Jew" and "hymie" stuff and just got pissed. I'm so sick of that crap! And I'm doubly sick of it because in addition to the effects on the souls of people reading that sort of thing, my name gets dragged through the mud. Too often I see on the net how "Fisheaters says this" or "Fisheaters is X, Y, Z" -- all bad -- when the things being referred to are things that I don't say, but people here at this forum say -- and they're quite often things I don't even like or agree with. It's just mentally exhausting, really. To see years of work with re. to the site itself being dismissed because people just don't watch their mouths, use prudence, act in charity, consider the effects of their words on people who are investigating traditional Catholicism -- sometimes I just get mad about it.

I dunno.. I'm just sad about all this stuff. I wish Alaric and Vetus would write to me and promise to behave.

Couldn't you retroactively make it be a temp ban, if that is what you now think you should have done?

We are still  being affected by the transition to you being an active moderator.  You are finding out about things that happened months ago and they seem new to you, but for the people who have been here all along they seem old.  It is an unusual circumstance, so maybe it would be OK to handle things in ways you wouldn't normally.

I am so glad I am not a moderator.  It is one of the most difficult tasks I know of.  One is always having to find a balance between opposing extremes.  One could be too strict or too lax.  One wants to be strong and consistent in enforcing rules, but there is also a time for being flexible.  There must be dilemmas like this on a daily basis.  I would be overwhelmed.

I am going to make a point to pray for you more, Vox, and I encourage everyone else to, as well.

I hope you're absolutely positive that it was Vetus before you start making accusations again.

Huh?  I was absolutely positive that the real Vetus denied writing the fake Vox posts and I am absolutely positive that Vetus would not lie.  I did not make any  accusations against him on Cathinfo; I backed him up.  I explained that he is a Catholic gentleman who would not do what he was accused of.
