I think she posted this as an alternative place to post criticism instead of on another thread. I do not think it was an invitation to criticise otherwise.

For those who think she revels in this or wants the attention, keep in mind that people were attacking her from a while ago. When one expects such things, one either becomes frustrated or just accepts it.

No matter how a person is, Christian Charity should be demonstrated by Christians.

And if one is in error, then one should be corrected in charity according to Fraternal Correction.

It is easy to criticize others, but it is more important to criticize oneself (privately).

Many times on the forum, people interact based on prior interaction. If one sees another interacting a little oddly with others, keep in mind there may be a history that one does not know. Being here for a few months is not long enough to know most such histories.

No matter the imperfections of her, I think it is shameful how some people here treat a Catholic grandmother who has much to share with the rest of us. Why is social perfection demanded? If I were married and someone treated my wife like some people here treat others so casually, there'd be hell to pay. If someone treated my mother like some treat people of similar social statuses here, all the courtesy in the the world couldn't hold me back.

Pretend this is an after Mass church basement social gathering.
Spot on SU.
I personally don't care about social imperfections. I am not PC myself.
But I do take issue issue, when a person slanders others for any reason.
In this case, for the sake of argument and/or attention.

But Admin/SU, I agree with what you said.
Moreover, as you mentioned it, she is a grandmother. It would be fortifying and edifying for her to spend more time with her biological family than falsely accusing others on a forum.  Especially a Traditionalista Catholic forum.

Libel, in this case. Defamation in general. Calumny theologically.

She's a traditional Catholic.

I think it is necessary and beneficial to have a full range of age and experience. I think she is a convert (almost sure, but my memory for personal details is weak), which adds another bonus.

Considering others have falsely accused her of many things, it is amazing she continues to contribute here.

Now, I am not defending her arbitrarily. I could criticise her such as that I think some of what she writes predictably gets certain unfavourable responses, but that does not mean those responses are just. It is a testament to the care we all need to take.

Charity should not be a psychological and sociological phenomenon. If one forsakes charity on online communication whenever the opportunity presents itself, then it means that one's charity otherwise is nothing but psychological. Like Jesus said, even pagans are caring in their own lives. It is when this love is extended to all others is it charity.

[ . . . ] it is amazing [JayneK] continues to contribute here. It is for our benefit that she does.

Rosarium, I mostly agree with what you write on this forum, but if ever there was a sentence that should be prefaced with "It is only my opinion, but I think that"...

This.

Rosarium/Su does not speak for all of us.

I think that the idea that one should "take what one can" is good advice. If nothing else, an academic knowledge of Latin benefits the forum, no?

I like Jayne. I think she is very smart, very logical, and even-tempered. I think she got on people's bad side for silly reasons and by offering opinions I mostly agree with or can defend (at least from what I've seen) -- like how we Catholics should show respect for the Pope, how the Novus Ordo Mass --- as sad as it is in comparison to the TLM -- is valid and a Catholic should at least think hard before not attending it to fulfill the Sunday obligation IF that is all there is and no TLM is available, how modern feminism sucks, etc. To me those are pretty non-controversial ideas. I don't really get the animus. I sometimes wonder if how she is treated here is more a matter of "gang-banging" than of people truly having "an issue" with her. I think it's sad. And I think it's gutsy of her to stick it out here.

Right now some people are mad at me because I deliberately derailed a farewell thread.  As part of this I attacked the reputation of another member here.  This was not legitimate disagreement over opinions.  I am at fault.  They are not picking on me.

I am hoping that making a thread for people to vent their feelings about this will make it easier for them to forgive me.
