What is the point of your post?

I wanted to find out if anyone else was noticing these things or had an alternate explanation for them.

Honestly, Jayne, if your point was to tell us about an observation then you probably should provide evidences (plural) in the op.  If you took exception to Nic's post, you can just handle it there in the thread.  Ya know?

But then she would be accused of derailing that thread (again). Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. Sometimes you just can't win!

That is pretty much the Fish Eaters experience.  Crazy!

Personally I think that Nic is at the extreme end of the spectrum. So I'm not sure why his is considered a accurate reading of the tank.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to bring up things that show our similarities? How do you think this thread is going to end? Everyone is going to start fighting, and more lines are drawn. Seriously, Satan doesn't have to lift a freakin finger to keep us all fighting and bickering and dividing ourselves. We do it ourselves.

I've been seeing comments like that by others but maybe they are all extreme types.  I'm getting tired of being told that I am not a real trad.  It's starting to get to me.  Maybe I should be thinking about taking a break.

Who cares what they think? Nic is known for having a narrow interpretation of what he feels is acceptable. Good for him. Whatever gets him into Heaven. I could easily throw a few others in that category as well. But they do not define traditionalism. No one does. The entire world is in chaos. We have no clear leadership from our fathers. So, as is always the case, the kids are running the show, trying to figure things out on their own. Is it any wonder that we all come up with different perspectives?

When Christ established His Church, He did not require a PhD. If the world is upside down right now, it's because He has allowed it to be so. If we are all confused because the truth has been fragmented and hidden, it is so because He deigns it to be. So for each one of us, rad trad, neo cath, No lover, what have you is this...

Are you ready to die right now? Are you in the state of grace? Will God say to you at judgement,"Well done good and faithful servant?"

Those are the things we should judge ourselves with. Not on what part of some ridiculous spectrum we have constructed because, well, basically, because we are a bunch of idiots. We have lost our Catholic identity and culture, what we have made up to compensate is severely lacking.

Basically Jayne, who the hell cares what anyone thinks of you and where you are on your pilgrimage.

Edit- I am not trying to be mean. My tone is one of a friend trying to tell you to "buck up".

We can't define what it means to be a "real trad." Does going to the Traditional Mass exclusively qualify as such, and does doing so qualify as a necessary and/or sufficient condition? People everywhere will attempt to do so all the time, but I think it is most important to note that the most important thing does not consist in restricting or labelling traditionalism (not Traditionalism with a capital "T" ) to this or that category.

I go to an SSPX chapel, and am entering an SSPX affiliated order very soon. I do not like the fact that my direct superiors and that the mainline SSPX stance is to greatly discourage or even forbid attendance at Traditional Masses (those of the indult, of the FSSP) outside of the Society. There exists certain reasonable reasons for this in some cases, but for many others there is no sense in not going to a non-SSPX Mass to fulfill your important sunday obligation.

I guess my statement does not have anything to do with the intentions of this thread, but I just want to state that I am getting pretty tired and increasingly disturbed too at the practical mindset of some Society Mass goers and priests concerning Catholics who go to other Traditional chapels. I don't suspect that they have mean or malicious intentions, but this thing needs to be looked into.

I don't know about this forum as I don't hang out here a lot...

Still, I admire and appreciate the efforts and charism of the Society, especially its work over the past few decades.

"Nothing is more miserable than those people who never failed to attack their own salvation. When there was need to observe the Law, they trampled it under foot. Now that the Law has ceased to bind, they obstinately strive to observe it. What could be more pitiable that those who provoke God not only by transgressing the Law but also by keeping it? But at any rate the Jews say that they, too, adore God. God forbid that I say that. No Jew adores God! Who say so? The Son of God say so. For he said: "If you were to know my Father, you would also know me. But you neither know me nor do you know my Father". Could I produce a witness more trustworthy than the Son of God?"  St. John Chrysostom Sunday Homily
