So, when will you guys get over your ressentiment for WASPs? It's starting to get a little worn out.

When they stop being the driving force behind eradication of the Church. The key though is "P".

Hmm... I always take the P to mean Pride. White Anglo Saxon Pride.

It does not mean that.

With the WASP attitude crossing over into the Catholic world, yeah, it may as well mean "pride".

When you go up to receive communion, you're literally at the foot of the cross.  Standing at all creation's center, the saints gather around.  Martyrs, heroes staring into your very being.  They lived AND died for Christ... can we say the same of ourselves?  What are WE doing to further God's will in this life?  Skipping Mass for our careers?  Our education?  Voting for heads of state, that don't recognize the source of all authority and power?  They won't matter on your deathbed (or whatever end we meet).

So... why waste time with this modern world's nonsense?  We have our own civilization: CHRISTENDOM.  We must restore it whilst the modern world commits societal suicide.

Its naive and idealistic to believe government for man by man can succeed.  Restore Christendom in our hearts and homes!  Communities aren't that far off, its a numbers game.

Oh no! WASPs not bowed down in white guilt and self-loathing. The horror! Getting our way might take something more than simply pointing out that we are perpetual victims if this keeps up!

Catholicism doesn't have room for white guilt.  It encompasses all nations.

What are you talking about? How about WASPs remaining on the road to hell by continuing to follow heresy?

PJs?  People still wear PJs?  Huh.  I wear a tshirt and sleep pants (or shorts, depending on the climate).  I've always been of the opinion that sleep wear should not include a collar or a breast pocket.  But that's just me.

All of my father's jammies are matching, have collars and I wouldn't be surprised if they have pockets.  Lol. He's so cute.  He's also uptight.  I don't know that I've EVER seen him in a t-shirt or a running shoe of any form.  On rare occasions he'll wear shorts.

Well, in that case I'm not sure what would be wrong with people taking some pride in their Anglo-Saxon heritage.

And yes, ties when taken as necessary to be "proper" are vanity in that common use of the word. Wearing a piece of silk tied in a specific way (using various methods) for no functional purpose cannot be anything but vanity. The question is how important one ranks it. If it is a requirement of a job or situation, fine, we all have to engage in vain activities in some situations, but it should be properly understood and not overly praised. That is essentially what this thread is about isn't it? Being overly concerned and judgemental about appearances beyond modesty?

In defense of the tie, it has been a part of western dress in one form or another for centuries.  It's purpose is to keep the neck warm.  Originally, this was done with a cowl and a hood.  You can see secular people wearing this in the illustrations of the Canturbury Tales.  Monks, of course, continue to wear them.  In the renaissance, the cowl gave way to the high collar.  To avoid chafing, some cloth, often ornamented with lace was added, and it also filled the gap between the collar and the shirtneck.   When the collar dropped in the 1600s, the cloth was left exposed, but still encircled the neck and dropped in front of the shirt, either with or without lace.  That remained the fashion through the first half or so of the 19th cent., minus the lace after the French Rev.  The silk tie was a thinner version of the same, made popular, I think, by Napoleon's Croatian troops.

If you have worn ties in the summer, you know they insulates the neck.  So, it is not purely vanity.  Perhaps in this era of central heating and air conditioning, clothes themselves will eventually be a vanity.

Because it's been developed by Protestant thinking.  The problem is one of attitudes and culture, not genetics.
