shame.  Breast Cancer claims approximately 39,000 lives a year.  Planned Parenthood approximately 320,000.

In her signoff, possibly as an acknowledgment of the public outrage toward her, Handel waives her right to a severance package. Susan G. Komen for the Cure supports breast and cervical cancer support financing, but not Prepared Parenthood, if the financial books mean anything. CEO Nancy Brinker shrugs it off, however, claiming there has been a “gross mischaracterization” of the details. Resource for this article: Susan Komen attempts to deflect heat from Planned Parenthood decision. Komen has maintained that it pulled funds from Planned Parenthood because of a routine change in criteria for who is eligible to receive grants -- not because of pressure from anti-abortion activists over the fact that Planned Parenthood provides abortions.

The VP for Komen quit today over this. Good for her.
