I am curious about homeschooling rooms? Are they mythical? Do you actually use them? Especially when you are/ were teaching the younger grades.

Back when I was homeschooling, I tried having a homeschooling room.  It never really worked for me.

We used the kitchen table. It's nice to be able to be close enough to answer questions and guide them while not hovering too much.

My family used the dining room.   It was the only practical place.

This is something I found that looks pretty cool.

This blog http://wildflowersandmarbles.blogspot.com/has some great pieces on their homeschool room.  Maybe someday I can afford it!

We use the kitchen table as well as wherever else the family laptop can be set up without causing an electrical short  LOL . We have a room for the books that also holds an old table which can be used for the purpose of school work AND holding school books...we call it the multi tasking table.

Yes. It is informally called the "school room."

Use to have a formal room when the boys were younger. Worked well at the time, but later no and I needed the room to be a bedroom.

Right now we're all over the house.   LOL  We start in living room reading, then move to computer for math, then to kitchen for spelling, usually back to living room for other things, even to bedroom to read.

I will say that having a specific spot when they are younger is more important than when they are older - at least around here it was. They would spread out with art projects and things when they were little and we don't tend to do that anymore.
