I meant to post this earlier in the day so everyone could go put on their flag t-shirts, but I got distracted.  On February 15, 1965, Canada adopted its new maple leaf flag.

I can't think about this right now.  I'm still too distracted by the fact that the Queen of England is somehow also the Queen of Canada.  Even though they govern themselves.  Maybe.

It's a bit like Princess Amidala of Theed is Queen Amidala of Naboo and Senator Amidala of the Galactic Republic. Only the Queen of Canada doesn't marry Darth Vader.

Comparing it to a movie that makes no sense isn't helping.

The only thing I kind of get out of all this is that everybody loves the queen as long as she doesn't actually do anything.

This is the true Canadian flag

Or this one:

"THE LORD is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 26:1)

"And we, too, being called by His will in Christ Jesus, are not justified by ourselves, nor by our own wisdom, or understanding, or godliness, or works which we have wrought in holiness of heart; but by that faith through which, from the beginning, Almighty God has justified all men; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." — Clement, bishop of Rome

"I love truth," says he, "and not sects. I am sometimes a peripatetic, a stoic, or an academician, and often none of them; but—always a Christian. To philosophise is to love wisdom; and the true wisdom is Jesus Christ. Let us read the historians, the poets, and the philosophers; but let us have in our hearts the gospel of Jesus Christ, in which alone is perfect wisdom and perfect happiness." — Petrarch

There you go.  You've got it!  You have mastered how monarchy works.

The French had the best flags, though:

How constitutional monarchy works, yes. It's basically a republic with a king as figurehead.

In a true monarchy the king does not sit idle, powerless, and subject to the constitution and parliament.
