Mom called tonight (she turned 90 February 3).  Her driver's liscense doesn't expire until next year but she had an accident just before Christmas so they are asking (what she said, probable requiring) her to take the full test.  She's already passed the eye exam.  She's retaking the written exam tomorrow (she thought she could just wing it the first time, now she's been studying) and is taking the driving exam next week.  She lives on her farm.  All she needs to do is to be able to drive to the post office and to church, about 2  miles on a country road, and to visit the neighbors.  A brother does the grocery shopping since the accident and takes her to town once a week for appointments (20 miles into town).  I'm down every other weekend and can take her to town, and I do the the Costco run, and other shopping.  A neighbor is very good to help, especially with taking her to church if it is at night or if the roads are bad.

Still, having her liscense will help her feel useful and independent and not isolated.  Please pray that she does well on her tests.  Thank you.

Pray  My 91 year old mom is in about the same situation!  She lost her license quite a while ago.  Now she is practicing to take her test in April.  She also needs a car only for local trips. The family is now helping her with her shopping and Dr. appointments (although it is a bit of a drive).  She has one very bad eye (macular degeneration), but so far she has passed her eye tests.  We're praying she passes or fails, whatever God knows is best and safest.

I'm praying for your mom too.  Pray

"The Catholic Church is the only thing which saves a man from the degrading slavery of being a child of his age."

"The Catholic priest is simultaneously the victim offered on the altar.  All the older, traditional ceremonies of the Roman Rite underscore this foundational dimension of the Mass. If we don’t see that relationship of priest, altar, and victim in every Holy Mass, then the way Mass has been celebrated has failed.  If we don’t look for that relationship, then we are not really Catholic.  Mass is Calvary."

Thank you for your prayers everyone.  When mom went to take the second test last week it was a different question set and she missed even more questions than on the first test.  She insists that one of the questions isn't covered in the Driver's Manual ~ I'm going to look at that after Mass before I drive back home.  She's studying hard and has gotten a 100% on the two online sample tests she's taken.  She'll retest this week.
