And whosoever diggeth a pit, Lord,
Shall fall in it, shall fall in it.
Whosoever diggeth a pit shall bury in it,
Shall bury in it.

We are the small axe
Sharpened to cut you down,
Ready to cut you down.

February 27, 380 AD: Roman Emperor Theodosius the Great, last ruler of a united Roman Empire, declared Christianity the only legitimate Imperial religion. The 1,632 anniversary of this is this upcoming Monday.

July 16, 1054: Patriarch Michael Caerularius of the East is excommunicated. This is considered the start of the split between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

May 15, 1648 and October 24, 1648: The Treaties of Osnabruck and Munster, also known as the Peace of Westphalia. These treaties ended the 80 Years War and the 30 Years War, and gave rulers the right to determine the religion of their respective states. Thus, in law, Catholicism and Protestantism were equal.
