Why would it not be economically viable?  RP wants to slash government power and spending in almost every area EXCEPT defense.  Defense is one of the very few things that the federal government should have power over and should be spending money on.  I believe very strongly in national defense and military spending.  It should just, you know, be used to actually protect the country and not put it into further danger.

If the government merely spent money on the military and infrastructure, our economy would be in an entirely different position.

But if we were merely protecting ourselves, would we really need such a preponderance of troops?

Probably not and I am fine with that. Someone described the US Military as a form of Red neck welfare. They are spot on and this further underscores the industrial mouse that the US has become.Very sad.

I think the soldiers and sailors have seen and know we are not protecting the USA, but sending them to their deaths for political adventures .

"I wonder how Congressman Paul will repay the troops if he gets elected"

Elected to what?

Agreed.

The vigorous support of the traitor and pervert Bradley Manning, in my view, is not something winning over droves of what one thinks of when they imagine 'the troops.'

It's not an all-or-none situation with Rep. Paul, but he is not broadly speaking the choice of US soldiers and Marines.

Really?  Because this seems to say otherwise.

Kind of surprised to see Obama in second place.

The U.S. has almost 3 million active duty and reserve troops.  You're willing to argue that because RP gained a paltry $113,000 over a 9 month period, (months before the first state even voted) that he is the choice of the troops?

I am not here to argue that RP hasn't raised more money from troops than other candidates.  But rather, that the statement is a misrepresentation and gross generalization.

Look at it this way.  If I said, CONTRACEPTION IS THE CHOICE OF CATHOLICS.  You'd say hell no.  But this poll shows that the majority of Catholics support Obama's policy.  http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/health-reform-implementation/210117-poll-catholics-support-new-contraception-policy
