Something about yoga always struck me as paganistic and sexual...and now I know why.

Tantra, sex, and the cult of personality go way back. The whole movement which led to tantra was based on the sadhana practices which were aimed at gaining spiritual insights from doing taboo things, like sex in a burial ground, or meditating while sitting on a corpse. These were folded into yoga, vajrayana, etc. There is yoga which doesn't have this origin. If you read Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, there is no mention of sex. People interested in the therapeutic benefits of yoga have to be careful where and who they learn from. Yoga from your local city probably would be pretty.tame.

Unless it absorbs the gift of the Spirit through faith, the mind has the ability to know God, but lacks the light necessary for that knowledge. This unique gift which is in Christ is offered in its fullness to everyone. It is everywhere available, but it is given to each man in proportion to his readiness to receive it. Its presence is fuller, the greater a man's desire to be worthy of it. This gift will remain with us until the end of the world, and will be our comfort in the time of waiting.

India is a shithole with a huge amount of human injustice and suffering.  About the only think I have adopted from their culture is Chicken Tikka Masala.

ggreg, you don't know what you're talking about. India is one of the greatest civilizations in the history of the world. We got most of our mathematics and numeration from them. Their intellectual, religious, and moral history is very impressive. Like any society which is pagan, it has had a lot of problems. Dismissing their contribution to humanity doesn't correct them.

They don't know this. But if it weren't for them, America would not have been discovered in 1492.....

"Nothing is more miserable than those people who never failed to attack their own salvation. When there was need to observe the Law, they trampled it under foot. Now that the Law has ceased to bind, they obstinately strive to observe it. What could be more pitiable that those who provoke God not only by transgressing the Law but also by keeping it? But at any rate the Jews say that they, too, adore God. God forbid that I say that. No Jew adores God! Who say so? The Son of God say so. For he said: "If you were to know my Father, you would also know me. But you neither know me nor do you know my Father". Could I produce a witness more trustworthy than the Son of God?"  St. John Chrysostom Sunday Homily

For India? I am not too familiar with eastern contribution to maritime technology, and than the Chinese contribution.

In fairness, he said modern day India is a shithole, not historic Indian culture.

I was responding mostly to the second part.

About the only think I have adopted from [Indian] culture is Chicken Tikka Masala.

In mixed company, certainly not.
