Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. The situation is complicated to say the least, and I really don't know whats going to happen. I've often thought about moving away after graduation, but there's the problem of finding work and a place to live. I'd like to go to grad school, because an MA is better than a BA in History, but that depends on circumstances and finances. I try to avoid debt like the plague, and do not want to have any student loans.

The big picture is to seek first the Kingdom of God, and everything else will fall into place. However, various circumstances can make this difficult.

My problem isn't money per se. By the grace of God I am attending school on a scholarship, and we have a place to stay. The problem is that personal circumstances make our arrangement morally questionable (not anything illegal) and thus I am trying my darndest to get us out of it ASAP. A place without such circumstances can make living the Faith first much easier, but that is really difficult, as it basically means buying a house, which is hard to do around here or anywhere, especially as I do not have a career yet.

I don't have any advice, but I will pray for you, my friend.

If I wanted to get a house upon graduation, what would the tank recommend? Because it doesn't make much sense to perpetually rent.

"The Catholic priest is simultaneously the victim offered on the altar.  All the older, traditional ceremonies of the Roman Rite underscore this foundational dimension of the Mass. If we don’t see that relationship of priest, altar, and victim in every Holy Mass, then the way Mass has been celebrated has failed.  If we don’t look for that relationship, then we are not really Catholic.  Mass is Calvary."

Something happened a couple of days ago. I could be overreacting to how bad it is, but oh well. This incident made me look for places on Craigslist, and I found one. However, it seems to good to be true: the owner is out of the country and the rent is way lower than what it should be. Sadly, I think this is a scam of some sort.

That's likely.

Where do live right now?

Generally suburbs are cheaper than city and country is cheaper than suburb. I live in an area where country is 30 minutes from city.
It may come as cold comfort but some of the greatest and happiest Saints came from very very humble backgrounds. St Bernadette for example.
Anyway, you may very well need to reconsider your geographical locale relative to income.Rent and Taxes are the big one. Food is pretty expensive across the board unless you can shoot/grow your own.
Craigslist may not be a bad idea but its a case of just getting out there and following up on ads.Get St Joseph and your G.Angel on the case in terms of finding somewhere.I don;t just say this. These guys help me out all the time.

You could always try serving in a Restaraunt. Good money in little hours, it's what I do while I go to school and take care of my Wife and daughter. We are on the high end of being poor but I don't let them go hungry and we have everything we need for the time being. We live in a nice area in Ohio with a low cost of living that is a huge help compared to Califonia I imagine. Being prudent with how you spend your money is extremely important as well.

I will pray a Rosary for you and Mother.

Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.

A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words.
St. Francis Assisi

He who does not embrace the teaching of the Church does not have the habit of faith.
St. Thomas Aquinas

Heretics think false things about God and call it their faith.
St. Augustine

But what is also to the point, let us note that the very tradition, teaching, and faith of the Catholic Church from the beginning was preached by the Apostles and preserved by the Fathers. On this the Church was founded; and if anyone departs from this, he neither is, nor any longer ought to be called, a Christian.
St. Athanasius

Good news: a great opportunity has made itself available. Everything should be resolved soon.
