I did my Masters degree (MDiv ) one course at a time over ten years.  I had four children when I started and finished with seven.    My husband made enough money for my tuition and school expenses to come out of the family budget.  I did not take out any loans.  I graduated top of my class.

With the exception of Jayne and being able to do it very slowly, it's hard.  You need a special spouse who is willing to make sacrifices in order for you to study.

Even doing it slowly requires a very supportive spouse.

Oh, most certainly.

What was the financial return on that investment.

Did you earn lots of money?

I didn't do it so that I could earn money.  My husband makes quite enough money.  There is enough to live on and to spend on luxuries like university courses just for the joy of the experience.

If I had needed a degree for earning money, I would probably have studied something else.
