"Nothing is more miserable than those people who never failed to attack their own salvation. When there was need to observe the Law, they trampled it under foot. Now that the Law has ceased to bind, they obstinately strive to observe it. What could be more pitiable that those who provoke God not only by transgressing the Law but also by keeping it? But at any rate the Jews say that they, too, adore God. God forbid that I say that. No Jew adores God! Who say so? The Son of God say so. For he said: "If you were to know my Father, you would also know me. But you neither know me nor do you know my Father". Could I produce a witness more trustworthy than the Son of God?"  St. John Chrysostom Sunday Homily

LOL You guys are hilarious!  I'm digging the MartaSnack (though I'm afraid of giving her ideas) and Wanda and Mo Betta. "Mo Betta Fish" could be his full name. Keep 'em coming!

Hmm.. "Albert Finny" could work...

Good point.  I hope it was worth a laugh at least.

There's always "Friday" -- both a literary reference and a Catholic one.

I forgot to tell you:  I got my fishy! He's a deep blue crowntail beta, with a bit of a green tint in the right light, and a little red on his undersides. I went with the name "Mo Betta Fish" Lisetravis is a good fish-namer, I say! Thanks, Lise!

I also got two ivory-colored Mystery Snails for him to pal around with. I don't know what's so mysterious about 'em, but there they are. I put them in the bowl and was happy to see that, hours later, they found each other. I don't know if snails, um, make love, but it seemed to me that something beautiful was going on. I was just glad they came across each other in there, though. I have gravel the same color as they are in the bowl and could imagine their joy when, after crawling around and feeling nothing but gravel and glass and plastic plants, they found another of their kind. Yayyyyyyyyyyy! I love love...
