Romney will have to win FL, OH, and PA. Can he do this? Is Obama's popularity really slipping that much?

Peter, here is another good map.

The dark blue states are those that have gone with the Democratic presidential candidate in the last four presidential elections. If you include New Hampshire, Iowa, and New Mexico, which have gone Democrat in 3 of the last 4 elections, then Obama gets 261 electoral votes. So really, all it takes is Obama getting Ohio or Florida to push him over the top. Romney would have to take both to win (if he carried all light red and dark red states). I don't see a Romney landslide at all, but that may be what Fox News is telling you.

Unfortunately for Romney, the President already has 247 electoral votes pretty much locked up, the Northeast, Upper Midwest and West Coast.  All he needs to do is win Florida and he can lose all the others and still get reelected.

Granted it's early, but so what?  Romney doesn't inspire any passion negative or positive.  The "hold my nose and vote for him" crowd won't put him over the top and may not even show up.

Four more years, God help us all......   :(

I don't know where you are getting this info from...everything I have read shows that this could be a Romney landslide. In fact, for Romney to be tied or slightly ahead in the polls at this point is a bad sign for Obama.

Name one state in the Northeast, Upper Midwest or West Coast that Obama will lose?  Wisconsin? Michigan? New York? California?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Wisconsin is very possible. It's a toss up right now. Florida is also very possible. Bush took Florida twice. PA will be a bit tougher but is possible. VA and NC are two other states that Romney will take and off set PA. Another thing that will make a big difference is who Romney picks for VP.

Romney has an excellent chance against Obama. Romney will wipe the floor with Obama during the debates...let's see Obama try to answer this one...

PTR, you should realize that American politics has NOTHING to do with actually defending your record. If it did, Mitt Romney would not be the front-runner in gaining the Republican nomination. He wouldn't have even won a single primary.

No, American politics is a more a beauty contest than anything. The records and principles of the players matter for very little.

I don't see how this guy can lose. Just look at this video:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAFQIciWsF4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAFQIciWsF4</a>

He has the media, most young voters, most minorities, and so much more. Romney supporters and Obama opponents would have to come out in droves.

Young voters are dropping Obama like mad. The only ones that are voting for Obama are the blacks.

Younger Voters Waking Up and Moving Away From Obama

April 25, 2012
By most6578

Back in 2008 candidate Barack Obama solidly held a huge advantage over John McCain when it came to the younger voting block.  Election day showed Obama getting about two-thirds of that valuable voting block.  Both Obama and Mitt Romney are working feverishly to gain support among young voters and it appears that what was once a sure thing for the President is slipping away.

High unemployment numbers, a stagnant economy, and soaring gas prices have gotten the attention of young job seekers.  ”Hope and Change” has been replaced with “We need jobs,” and the President’s socialistic model simply can not deliver no matter how neatly the package is wrapped.

A new Harvard poll shows the President with just a 12 point lead among younger voters.  This down from the whopping 34 point advantage the President had just four years ago.

Mostly Right would remind all voters, young and not so young alike, that the government can not give to you what it has not at some point or another taken from someone else.  The world is a tough place and the sooner we realize that government is mostly the problem and almost never the solution, the better off we will all be.
