Not that I didn't "get" it, just that I don't understand the EXCESSIVE praise that was heaped on it:  All About Eve.  Especially considering it was released same year as Sunset Boulevard, which is infinitely superior.

The movie Mildred Pierce was a big letdown after somebody I know built it up to me FOR YEARS.

...more later.

Ana -- You're right about the triangle in Casablanca, but I still like the movie.  My favorite part is when the French sing the Marseillais in Rick's Cafe...

I'll have to ponder what classics I don't get...

I like that part too.

I actually live in Casablanca. Grin Well, it is the name of my condo complex.  I even remember that the name of my unit model is "Rick's place".  The landscaping and interiors look a little like Casablanca.  So I don't really need to see the movie. Smile

"Nothing is more miserable than those people who never failed to attack their own salvation. When there was need to observe the Law, they trampled it under foot. Now that the Law has ceased to bind, they obstinately strive to observe it. What could be more pitiable that those who provoke God not only by transgressing the Law but also by keeping it? But at any rate the Jews say that they, too, adore God. God forbid that I say that. No Jew adores God! Who say so? The Son of God say so. For he said: "If you were to know my Father, you would also know me. But you neither know me nor do you know my Father". Could I produce a witness more trustworthy than the Son of God?"  St. John Chrysostom Sunday Homily

Citzen Kane -- I don't get the hype over something that's just a veiled bashing session directed at William Randolf Hurst.

Star Wars. The most one dimensional characters of all time. Mel Brooks made my day when he spoofed it.

Oh, yeah, there was this one. Really didn't get it. Kind of a film noir, art nouveau kind of thing... I'm trying to find the name out again. It's been awhile....

I'll post again when I find the name... this is just a placeholder.

Cos man it was a doozy.

Forget your lust for the rich man's gold/ All that you need, is in your soul/ And you can do this, oh baby, if you try/ All that I want for you my son/ Is to be satisfied

Quote from: Old Crow Medicine Show
All that we are is a picture in a mirror, with fancy shoes to grace our feet. All that there is, is a slow road to freedom; Heaven above and the devil beneath. We're all in this thing together, walking a line between faith and fear, this life won't last forever - when you cry I taste the salt in your tears.
