The Fischer quints of South Dakota, James Andrew , Mary Magdalene, Mary Margaret, Mary Anne, and Mary Catherine were born in 1963. They were Catholic. I came across this photo on the web of their baptism.

The first ever surviving quints were also Catholic.  French Canadian, to be exact.

The government up there took them away from their family and basically turned them into a tourist attraction.  I've heard that some of the surviving sisters warned later parents of multiples not to turn their kids into a business -- to let them be kids.

If you look at the skull cap and ring, a bishop is baptizing the quints.

So much for government and family values being peachy pre-Vatican II, haha.

Praying for the dead is important. PM me if you need a cantor for the Requiem Mass of a deceased friend or family member. Have cassock and surplice, will travel. (Will also do weddings for a reasonable price.)

Socialism -- it's fun.   Sticking tongue out at you

I've never seen anyone claim that the government was perfect before the Council.  Family Values, well, doesn't seem like the government valued family very much in this case.

Canada was hardly socialist in 1934. However, the Dionnes had the misfortune of being born in Ontario (despite being French Canadian). Ontario was a protestant province, ruled by members of the Orange Order. Their prot doctor saw a chance to make a buck and got the prot government to go along because they saw a chance to make a buck off tourism. Besides, the Dionnes were just dumb, stupid Catholics, so who cared? Certainly not the prots.

Sorry, I meant Socialism loosely -- in the sense of "the almighty State knows better than you."  You know, the "it takes a village" mentality.
