I do have the kids pick up after themselves. My 5 year old makes her bed very well. I then have her make her 2yo sister's and sometimes mine. I also let them take turns with the vacuum attachment wand and suck up all the crumbs on the kitchen floor. It's less of a lethal weapon then the broom. There are a few other things they do as well. But they are so young, and there are so many, it is not always feasible to have them help. The clean:disaster ration is very much against me.

The best thing I can do is clean the house and keep them outside. The weather is not always cooperative, but I try. We even eat out on the front porch. One day I'll have a patio and it will be a bit more civilized with a table and chairs. But for now we sit on the stoop and eat our sandwiches talking about the birds, bunnies, and whatever we see.

I'll admit that large numbers of kiddos makes this more difficult.  I try to give the kids different jobs but it doesn't always work either.  The weather is so beautiful this time of year that letting the kids roam a bit in the garden sounds about perfect.  I have been havng trouble keeping the kids from eating half raw strawberries and other stuff - including weeds - from the garden.  It is so weird!  I guess maybe it is an orphanage thing . . .

Their just being survivors, it's a trait to have. My kids do the same thing. We don't have any berries, but they see the adults eating salads and think the yard is a buffet. So far I haven't had to call poison control or anything.

I had one of mine puke repeatedly because he ate baby pears from one of our trees.  Two days later, he was eating berries.   LOL

Iron?Huh? Bwahahahahaha.....it is our one real luxury. We send my husbands shirts out. He stops them on his way to work and picks them up on his way home. It is worth the $30/month for me. My boys do their own ironing and now I often ask them to do a pair of their dads pants here and there. Oldest ds takes pride in ironing razor Sharp creases. More power to ya kiddo.  Huh?
MROL is great if you stick to it. Right now I have a nursing baby so my schedule revolves around him. They grow so fast and unlike earlier babies I am in no rush to train him to not need me. Before I know it he'll be a big stinky teenager.

I used to love to iron because it was the one time I was allowed to watch a movie, as long as the work got done.  Even now, it is quiet time to think.

Flylady...aack....who has time to polish the sink?  She also never mentions the number of people in her home she also has to look after.

I suggest you head over to a more realistic site......
