Old Bag: I have TWO degrees in theology!!
...but I still can't quote anything at all from my favorite Ecumenical Council and when I managed to quote scripture I mix-up two different parts. I know. I love it! I like when she says "I am sure the 90% of what I love about the Church is the same things you love" I am not betting the farm on that one.

The woman speaking? http://olgabonfiglio.blogspot.com/2012/06/kalamazooans-protest-vaticans-treatment.htmlKim Franke is a former Mercy sister (Buffalo, NY) of 11 years with two theology degrees, including a master’s degree from Notre Dame where she studied with noted theologians and then taught theology at the collegiate level. Although “Catholic to the core” and unwilling to give up on the Church, her love-hate relationship with the institution makes it too difficult for her to attend Mass since women are not fully incorporated into the liturgy or ministry. Instead, she is part of a “home church” with a dozen friends who meet weekly, share homilies on the readings and support and participate in various local ministries. What do you think the odds are that they have invalid "priestesses" saying "Mass" at their "home church"? If that were happening, I would bet the "liturgy" is a knock off of the Novus Ordo because the texts of the TLM even in English require a degree of humility that they would find repellent.

I get the feeling 99% of what she loves about the Church is heresy...at best.

My hope is in Christ, who strengthens the weakest by His Divine help. I can do all in Him who strengthens me. His Power is infinite, and if I lean on him, it will be mine. His Wisdom is infinite, and if I look to Him for counsel, I shall not be deceived. His Goodness is infinite, and if my trust is stayed in Him, I shall not be abandoned.
-- Pope Saint Pius X

They're not even Catholic.
I know. How did he keep his cool during this exchange. Priest: The Pope is the Vicar of Christ and successor of St Peter and the Bishops are the successors of the Apostles. Crazy Lady: Well thats what YOU believe... Like I said he has far more tolerance than I. After the above exchange I would have said "So you don't believe that then? Okay come back to me when you convert to Catholicism."

That woman with the black hair reminds me of a Femenazi professor I had at the University of Hawaii back in '84.

I don't think it is possible to watch this and not be struck by the priest's good cheer. We live in a culture that obviously attacks the church explicitly almost every second of the day. However, the church is also attacked in much more nuanced ways. For instance the common perception of priests is that they are all dour old men, who have no capacity to feel joy and are probably just looking to pray on young boys. That's the implied party line in almost any public discussion on catholicism. No one on this forum would ever intellectually assent to such trash, but I'm often taken aback at how many times I've read the life of a given saint and been surprised that they enjoyed pulling pranks or were often silly by the world's standards (I'm thinking of St. Philip Neri here, but there are many others.)
At this point in my life I shouldn't be shocked that someone who embraced catholicism with all of their being would be light hearted and fun to be around. Yet I watch this video and am struck immediately by the priests attitude. I guess it just shows how much genuine catholic culture has been eroded and how easily we let satan set the tone for us. The priest in this video probably did more good by his cheery attitude then if he had written a hundred sound orthodox books. The truth of catholicism is hard to resist when it is presented in an orthodox fashion and even more so when that intellectual orthodoxy is coupled with a strong charitable zeal. Like St. Francis says, "Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary use words." I'll pray that the priest can continue to persevere in his good example and that the poor uneducated women can follow that example.

“The Catholic Church is the only thing which protects us from the degrading servitude of being a child of your time.” We stay our own course, which is not the course of the flow of the time in which we live. The church, therefore, always has been a stranger in this world, but at this present time, the church is more of... a stranger than ever in the past.We can make no compromise at all with the spirit of this time.
