It's only what God thinks we can handle, not what we think we can handle.  You see, our opinion doesn't really count in this equation.

That's brilliant.  Believe it or not, I'd never thought of it that way.  Thank you.

That was meant to be bitter and cynical, not brilliant.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but recently I read that praying doesn't have to involve words at all, or even topics for meditation.  Just listening for God is a prayer.  This has helped me lately.

I've listened plenty, let me tell you.  I've never heard so much as a still, small voice.  I've never had a divine dream, a vision, an inner locution or an ecstasy.  Hell, I've never even had a funny feeling.

Bah.

You don't want a divine dream.  They're not exactly nightmares, but they're not really fun, either.  Especially when you wake up feeling guiltier than ever.

I don't believe you've listened.  But I do believe something you said a while ago, that you're lazy.  I can't be wrong about that, since it takes one to know one.

You're spoiled if you think you're going to hear a clear voice, much more so if you think you'll have a divine dream, or vision, or locution, or ecstasy.  Or even a funny feeling.  You're going about it the wrong way.  If you really listen, you won't be complaining about not hearing anything, you'll just be listening.  It's impossible to listen and complain at the same time, you see.

That's what I've read too.

I have too listened.  Listening has nothing to do with my laziness because listening doesn't require any effort you see, that's why it's one of my favorite activities.   Bronx Cheer

I still don't believe that you've listened, since you say it doesn't require any effort.

It is blasphemy and it's not funny.  God is not given to "sudden, unaccountable changes of mood or behavior."

I understand that you've got sh** going on, but no one on this forum should have to listen to this filth.
