I was talking to a non-Catholic person the other day and he mentioned that aliens (from another planet) were mentioned in the OT and maybe possiblly the NT. I asked him what translation he was using and he said NIV. Does anyone know what he was talking about?

No. The Bible speaks of angels coming down to earth during Noah's day (Genesis 6:1-4; 1Peter 3:19, 20; 2Peter 2:4; Jude 6) and the book of Ezekiel is of a vision of God's celestial chariot with him upon his throne with a host of angels. (Ezekiel 1:4-9, 16-28, 10:1-13) Extraterrestrial aliens are not in the Bible nor a part of reality. Wishful thinking...

There are some crazy theories about them.

People can find whatever they want "in the Bible".

There are several parts of scripture which may be the basis for this interpretation, such as fiery chariots and what are clearly angels.

This thread might provide some fodder.

The Nephilim is correct.  Also, the account of Elijah being taken up to Heaven in a flaming chariot, has been interpreted as a story of Elijah being taken away in a space craft (wheels within wheels).  I don't buy the story in any way, but that's the account given by some Ufologists.

You need to find better conversationalists.  Anytime someone starts talking about aliens, bigfoot or golf, I always receive an urgent call on my cell, which is set to silent.  It's the darndest thing.
