Q. How do I become a forum member? Registration is disabled! A. See
this thread.
Q. What's the deal with those red, blue, and gold fishes next to members' names?A. See
this thread.
Q. I pay for a fish-level of membership but haven't gotten a fish. What do I do?A. I need to know your user name AND the email address you use
at PayPal AND the level of membership you're paying for. Just PM that info to me... If I don't have that information, there is no way I can know which users are paying for what levels of membership! Thank you
very much for having become a supporting member! God bless you for it!
Q. What happened to my post?A. If it was spam, contentious, or seemed to the moderator to be cruising for trouble, it was either deleted or moved to "The Cornfield," where threads go to die. Otherwise, it was likely moved to a more relevant sub-forum. E.g., posts about food go in the "Health, Food, Drink, and Tobacco" sub-foum;
questions -- as opposed to news or commentary -- about the Faith go in the "Apologetics and
Questions about Traditional Catholicism" sub-forum, etc. "News of the Weird," jokes, personal stories, small-talk or chit-chat goes in "Pig Roast." Please mind where you post...
Q. I saw an ad I thought was (blasphemous, in bad taste, too sexy, etc.). What should I do?A. Report it by private message to me. Only report ads that are truly likely to be an
occasion of sin for the average viewer (ask yourself "would seeing ad X
truly likely cause the average man or woman to sin or want to sin?"). Don't report an ad just because you don't like it, politically disagree with it, or are in a "puritanical mood." Know that this is a forum for people who are at least 18 years old.
Note that I need the URL to which the ad links! Everyone sees different ads depending on their browsing history and the like; the odds are quite good that I've never seen the ad you're talking about, so I need the URL it leads to in order to block it. A simple description of the ad won't do.
Q. I saw a post with cussing in it. A. I grew up in the 70s and am simply not bothered by the occasional "F-word" and the like. Blasphemy and sacrilege, on the other hand, are another story and will not be tolerated here. While this forum is for adults only, people should remember that lots of folks find using "those words" to be rude. People who use "profanity" inordinately, who "cuss" too much (as determined by moderators), will be banned. I will be using a word replacement feature that the forum software provides to replace letters in certain words with asterisks.
Q. How does a person advertise on the forum?A. Please see
the advertising page on the main FishEaters site.
Q. I am having a problem with the forum, I was banned and want to be unbanned, I need to know how to do X, Y, Z...A. Write to me at
Tracy@Fisheaters.com For any account-based problems (banning, for ex.), include your username and the email address associated with your account.
Q. I used to be able to modify my posts and now I can't. What's up?A. I disallowed that permission as a general rule because some people were modifying posts in such a way as to make others look stupid in their responses to them. I've decided, though, to let people buy the ability to modify their posts, thinking that those who like the forum enough to pay to subscribe would be less likely to be the type who'd mess with the forum through such bad behavior. To be able to modify posts, subscribe to this forum. Learn how to do that in
this thread.
Q. I want to leave the forum. Can you delete my account?A. No, I don't delete accounts. Just leave and all will be well.
Q. I used to have an account here but don't remember how to log in. I want to post again. Can you help?A. Email me (
Tracy@FishEaters.com) your old username and, if possible, the email address associated with your account. I can re-set your password with that information.
