It's ecumenical, or pan-religious, and not Catholic. The Blessed Sacrament should not be in a pan-religious temple. I would say keep your hat on. Some people on base may be offended, but so what.
God is already too offended by ecumenism and stuff. If you don't do this gesture of respect, it might offend Him all the more. I'm sure He highly considers your way of showing respect. It's a very good thing wearing a hat and I encourage you doing it anyway. Same for mantillas, I wear it even when obliged to attend a novusordo mass or any other celebration, because God matters more than the rest.

Why not ask the Catholic priest in charge of the religious pluralism fest if the Blessed Sacrament is indeed kept.
For the record, I am totally against the military chaplain program and think all priests should be immediately pulled and all Catholic Soldiers, etc. ask for release, or go AWOL.

So, do you think Catholics in the service are sinning?

So, do you think Catholics in the service are sinning? Not in total, but the Chaplains agree to religious pluralism and it's all but blatantly obvious the HHS Mandate has an analogue in Tricare. The Chaplains themselves are either holding to one and despising the other, or have no idea what their regulations say. Since they know dang well what they say, I think all Catholic Priests acting as Chaplains are indeed knowingly submitting themselves to religious pluralism in an ultimately syncretic system, and must daily engage in indifferentism to complete their duties IAW (in accordance with) the regulations. As far as the Soldiers, I think it's hit or miss and many probably don't know up or down of the specifics of the argument.

The thing is, why on Earth would the Blessed Sacrament be reserved in a house of non-Catholic worship? It simply should not be allowed.

Well, you take your hat off out of respect for Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. If He's not there, no need to take if off. If He is, I would.
Hmm.... this suggests that if you walk by an Eastern Catholic church that doesn't reserve the Sacrament, one shouldn't doff the hat. I'm not sure about that.

PM me if you need a cantor for the Requiem Mass of a deceased friend or family member. Have cassock and surplice, will travel. (Will also do weddings for a reasonable price.)

The chaplaincy corps certainly puts Catholic clergy in an awkward position. It would be better if the military simply used priests like civilian contractors. I know many priests on posts are basically civilian contractors, or they just show up for free as a service to the community.
