I am wondering how others store their religious items, such as holy cards, medals, novena booklets, etc.  Shelf, drawer, box?

Thanks!

I have a shelf on my bookcase which I'm probably going to have to occupy with books sometime soon ... it's got a large and beautiful picture of Jesus and His Sacred Heart, nestled between the books. In front of it, there are laid out the few holy cards that I own. A couple more are in the shelf above, in my theology books, as bookmarks. I have a wooden box in which I keep my breviary and an old copy of the missale romanum. On top of these, I have my 5-6 medals laid out. (I only have one chain, so I switch occasionally) They are mostly french, picked up in WWII by my grandpa.

This is next to my nightstand. Next to it, on my nightstand, I have a small bottle of holy water, and a candle which I got from the episcopal church. When I am in a sinful mood, I sometimes light it to remind me of hell, and the futility of heresy...

I've got a sort of box of drawers thing I found sold as damaged at Pier I. It's a large wooden "box" with two side-by-side drawers in which I keep my Rosaries, holy cards, medals, incense -- the little things like that.

All of my other stuff is out:

  • the Sacred Heart picture that I found in a little antique place is on the wall

  • two wall Crucifixes

  • a print of a guardian angel walking two children over a bridge that my Mom (R.I.P.) got many, many years ago and was in the dining room of the house I grew up in. It was found in the attic of an old church, and is in a gorgeous frame

  • a picture of St. Ann with the child Mary that also came from my childhood home and, before that, my Italian Grandma's house

  • my Mary statue, which I want to re-paint this year. I got her at this place that used to sell unpainted plaster stuff which you could have them paint for you. I got her very inexpensively that way, but want to re-paint her myself soon. I made a little garland of tiny silk roses for her head, but it looks pretty grungy right now

  • a holy water font. I can't remember where I got it, but it looks Mexican and it hangs crooked LOL

  • I have one of those little easels that are used to small pictures (from Michaels or some such place) and I keep different holy cards in it for show

  • a tiny cheapy icon of St. Barbara (I'm scared of lightning)
And that's the extent of my Catholic treasures. For now, anyway!
