I just wondered what would be the moral implications if my mother and sister had me go on a show like that Queer Eye for the Straight to help me out with improving certain things? Now my mother says that the hosts of the show are gay, but do not really emphasize and simply help out people who have done a lot for others. I have every time though rejected such an idea though because of the fact that these guys (or gays) need help! What should I do if the situation ever came up?

I've never actually watched that program as I have no desire to witness the antics of a bunch of fruit loops, so I don't know much about the content. I would stay far far away from any show like that. Smile

Why on earth would anyone even watch that show let alone try to get someone to be on it?

What good reason do you have to support gay culture and the advertisers that fund it.   By watching the show you are supporting corporations and the sinners they promote.

I've seen the show. Though during the course of it they don't "emphasize" the "queer" part, and though they can be pretty hilarious and do do some good, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is the title, so I can't approve. It's far, far too soft on the gay "lifestyle" and, just by its title, treats normal men as pathetic beings in need of help.

There are "gay" people in the world who are loud, proud, and in your face about their sin. And then there are perfectly upstanding people who struggle with homosexual temptations but who are chaste (or who truly repent if they fall in to their weakness). These two types can't be lumped together.

ALL people should be treated with charity (which is rooted in Truth, not mere "feelings"), PRUDENCE, kindness, and basic human respect.

As to going on that particular show, I wouldn't because it treats acting on homosexual impulses as no problem.

If the show were called something else, and gay innuendo wasn't a part of it, but the cast was made up of (at least apparently) chaste men who are on the "sensitive" side and who do have a good eye for style and art, then I'd say go for it. But that ain't the case here.

My two cents.

Apart from the flaming homosexuality of the hosts, it seems that the premise of the show (from what I have read in the media) is to advocate the materialistic metrosexual lifestyle that denigrates traditional masculinity and furthers the androgynization of society.

Of course what if I presented the faith on that show if I ever could get the Catholic faith through without the editing and tell these gays something? Yes, Vox, sorry I forgot, there are homosexuals who are open, but then there are those who try their best with God's grace to live chaste lives. Unfortunately, the hosts of "that show" may not be chaste. Now I am not the one who watches the show. My mother and sister watch it, and I my mother just cannot see, as do my other family members, despite the Catholic faith connection, what is objectively moral. That's why I honestly must say I am so vehemently angry at my parents so many times because they seem so much a disappointment to me since I thought they would have known better, but they do not. They only understand to some degree.

Walk out of the room when the show comes on...  Tell them you are going to pray for foregiveness for their support of a show that supports a lifestyle contrary to Church teaching (which it does).  Set a prayerful example.  Change people by your example.    Thanks be to God for your conviction of the Truth!  I will be praying for you.

Parents will almost always disappoint their children in some ways (and children will almost always disappoint their parents in some ways, too!). That sort of disappointment from people you love so much is the most painful of all, especially when you are young. A hug to you, Kepha...

You know that their attitudes are wrong, so you're way, way ahead of the game -- but don't let their wrongness make you angry in an unproductive way. I mean, it is good to be angry about sin, but turn it all over to God and pray for them, have the answers for them if they care to talk to you about such things, and be a good example. If you get angry and appear "judgmental" or "preachy" or "holier than thou," it could have the opposite effect of what you intend. Just save your soul, protect yourself from things that are not good for you, and do what you can for their souls, knowing when you may have to shake some dust off your feet and focus on another good. Love and honor them in a Christian way! Know, too, that Christ is with you always if you want Him to be!
