Hello:

Sometimes, due to work or study, I cannot say as much of the Breviary as I would wish. In those cases, I just I usually just recite Terce, Vespers and Compline. Sometimes, if I cannot even say that, I recite the Little Office of Saint Benedict, or another devotion.

If you do not mind me asking, what is the Little Office of St. Benedict? I'm not sure if I have ever heard of that before now.

Hello:

Over the centuries, various devotees of Saint Benedict composed "Little Offices" in honour of the glorious Patriarch. They are like the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin, insofar as they imitate the Divine Office but are extremely shorter. There are various versions. Some consist of Hymns or excerpts of Hymns for each Canonical Prayer with versicles and responses and a Collect. Others consists of these elements, in addition to Psalms or excerpts of Psalms and Canticles.

The one I usually use is from the Manual for Oblates of Saint Benedict (1933) by Abbot Alcuin Deutsch.
