What's strange is that like a lot of things in the NO, it seems like RCIA has devolved into what it was not intended to be.  In my diocese, or from my own experience, RCIA is a grab all for the baptized, non-baptized, converts, reverts, etc., who need the sacraments.  I've also read that it has never really received the support of the Church hierarchy...

That's how it often is around here, too. Last year, we had one girl who had never been baptised, a bunch of Protestant converts, and another woman who was Catholic but had never been confirmed. They all went through the classes and the Easter Vigil. Maybe it has something to do with the ecumenical mentality, or perhaps it's just that most parishes either can't or don't have multiple adult education classes, or maybe they just want everyone to go through the Vigil and the theology's gotten a bit lost along the way.

In the RCIA manuals it says that those who are comming from other Christian faith traditions (with valid baptism) are not meant to come into the Church on the Easter Vigil, but on a normal sunday.

NOW they tell me. Oh well, too late to worry now.
