There's a few of us here in the same boat Kathie.  I have no way to get to the traditional mass regularly because my car is broken and I have no money.  Luckily, I live a few blocks from a conservative NO parish.  It sounds to me like you'll find plenty of like-minded people on the forum.  We just refrain from arguing indult vs sspx vs sedevacantism unless in the Wild West forum, and respect traditional sensibilities, and it seems you have those yourself .

Welcome to the forum Kathie!

Note: According to this precept, I find that Buddhism is NOT true.  I have tested and judged many things, and the only Truth I have found is in God's One True Church: The Catholic Church.

Ah! That just proves that I should read the FAQs before opening my big mouth! I jumped straight into this topic from Google and heartily approved of all I read! I didn't think to question what I mean by 'traditional' vs what the accepted meaning is on this forum!

I have never attended a Latin Mass, though I would do so if the opportunity presented itself. I am a traditional Catholic in that I believe in the teachings of the Church, especially those on morality; I want a large family (at least I did till this pregnancy - now I just want it to be over and never happen again! But I'm sure this is just temporary); I attend Mass every Sunday (even while on holiday - to the shock of a former colleague ) and as many week days as I can; I dress modestly and regard my husband as the head of our household; I refrain from public displays of dissent with ecclesial authority as I believe that however flawed the man, we must still respect the office; and I feed my son on a steady diet of Bible and saints stories so that his heros are Jesus, and David, and Noah not Spiderman, and Batman, and Barney the Dinosaur.

But I worship God incarnate through the Novo Ordo Mass. So I guess that I am not really a traditional Catholic.

Never mind - I still agree with all that you have expressed and found some useful tips. I'll try a flyer, even though I know its effectiveness is limited, and pass it by Father first. At the moment he is apoplectic because people keep blocking the street when they arrive late for Mass, and he cops it from angry residents. So I might leave it a couple of weeks - or maybe he'll be pleased that someone is taking some initiative instead of leaving it all to him?

You are still welcome here!!  Others go to the Novus Ordo also.  You would love the traditional Latin Mass.

Here is a listing of some "approved" Latin Masses--maybe one is near you?

And I am sorry about all you ladies that have lost babies--too sad.

I have attended an Indult chapel in the past that sounds identical to yours.  I was truly amazed.  Mass was a social hour for these parents.  Week after week the same mothers would congregate and catch up on the week's gossip.  They had no clue what was going on.

Yes, that used to be a weekly phenomenon at our Indult. A group of mothers (mostly from one VERY large and extended family) would take their disruptive kids into the entry area and proceed to squawk like chickens on and off for 2 hours.  However, since we now have quite a few families that have migrated from the SSPX chapel in our area, and their manners are much better, it has almost completely stopped.

Kathie,

I hope you will stay. We are of varying backgrounds and some people are affiliated with N.O. parishes. What we have in common here is a disdain for the abuses associated with the new order and the modernist errors that lead to them.

Hi Kathie....You are most welcome here.  I attend and am quite active in a large NO parish near Cincinnati,  Ohio.....I am not traditional in the sense that many others here are...I am much like you, I suspect.

Anyway...The people here are wonderful...I don't always agreee with eveyone, but I do respect everyone's right to his or her own opinion.  And, my friends here respect me, too (I hope).  They have stood with me through  worry over a daughter's fourth pregnancy (still going on), a grandchild's potentially serious illness, questions about faith.....You name it.  This where I come when I need comfort and support.

So...Stick around...You will find a lot of like-minded people here, and you will find a wonderful comradarie among the women.  Welcome...

Blessings,
Sandy
