This is a wonderful movie about one of my favorite saints--a man of integrity who did not seek martyrdom but refused to deny the truth.  According to everything I have read about him, the film captures the essence of the man perfectly.  And to think that Hollywood made this movie!

Yeah, that version, with Paul Scofield was one of the best movies ever made.

I like the scene where St. Thomas' daughter shows up the King with her knowledge of Latin and the King's response is to show her his leg.

What a jerk!

I didn't know there was another one besides the 1966 version ... I see now that there was one made in 1989 ... with Charleston Heston ... yuk!

The movie/play is brilliant ... instead of doing the V-Monologues on Catholic campus' we should do plays like this one.

P.s. I use "v" because it seems anatomy offends people.

When I read in Belloc's characters of the Reformation that St. Thomas More was a laughing stock of modern society I had no idea what he meant.

After watching the video, and studying his life, I can see what he means ... you would except John Fisher, a cleric, to disobey the King's orders ... but a statesmen?

I think most of us would have signed the oath and moved on with our lives. Heck, I know traditionalists would.
